Our metal casement window frames are normally fabricated from stainless steel including the window furniture. This is achieved by hand forging the steel to create the handles, stays etc. which can no longer be purchased but need to match existing styles. A variety of attractive brass and bronze catches are also available. We supply frames finished in polyester powder coating to any BS/RAL Colour or decorated with an appropriate paint system or primed and ready for decoration on site. The image above a shows a new Hopper Window frame with detail of the opening mechanism which was replicated from an existing frame. Note the bird exclusion mesh attached.
Repair & Restoration
When existing metal casement window frames are to be refurbished we carefully remove them or if removal is not an option, carry out the work in situ. Once the frames have been removed, referenced and photographed we carry out all repairs necessary including replacing badly corroded sections, altering dimensions if required and fabricating any missing window furniture: handles etc. The frames are then cleaned by either gentle abrasive blasting or by hand to: (BS 7079 part A1) ST3 and decorated with an appropriate paint system or to specifications provided. The frames can be polyester powder coated to any BS/RAL Colour although this would be unusual in conservation work. Once the metal casement window frames are ready we reinstate them and make good to finish. We also replicate, repair & refurbish cast frames.
